A two-alarm brush fire broke out on Friday evening in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, with 60 FDNY firefighters and emergency medical workers rushing to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
The FDNY was alerted to the fire around 6:40 p.m., the New York Post reports. The fire began in the center of the park, in the area known as the Nethermead. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were trying to put the fire out more than an hour later, and the department used brush fire units and drones to find hot spots in the park.
On Friday, amid high-wind, low-humidity conditions, the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for a large swath of the Tri-State area, including New York City, which in October experienced the second-longest stretch without rain in its recorded history.
