Crawford County Sheriff’s Department has released video of the arrest of Jacob Allen Jones swallowing something in a patrol vehicle. Jones later died in custody.
On Friday, Oct. 14, Jacob Allen Jones, a 26-year-old man from Van Buren, was arrested by Van Buren Police. Jones and his uncle were both arrested with outstanding warrants and brought to the Crawford County jail shortly after 4 p.m. Friday.
Less than 24 hours later, Jones was dead.
Crawford County Sheriff Jimmy Damante has confirmed that after speaking with the medical examiner, that the bag of drugs Jones is allegedly seen swallowing in the footage, broke in his stomach and caused his overdose.
However, Jones’s family says their concerns lie in the fact that Jones was suffering within the Crawford County jail and did not receive medical attention for five hours before he eventually died.
