Spin Doctors, Chromeo and Myrtle Avenue Restaurant Week: 16 things to do this weekend

You survived Valentine’s Day and made it to the weekend. Welcome. Myrtle Avenue hosts their restaurant “week” beginning Friday through February 26. Also Friday: The Bell House will hold a “Coming to America” drinking game and a Y2K dance party and costume contest comes to The Brooklyn Monarch.

Saturday brings England’s favorite adult bingo game, Bongo’s Bingo, to The Music Hall of Williamsburg. The Spin Doctors headline The Brooklyn Bowl, and a queer wrestling-themed variety show takes over Haven Boxing.

Because Monday is a federal holiday, there are a bunch of late-night offerings on Sunday including: a Lunar New Year party featuring Zedd, a Sailor Moon Rave, a late-night album release party for Chromeo at Public Records, and an all-night Spring Festival at Avant Gardner.

Friday, February 16

Myrtle Avenue Restaurant Week
February 16 to 25
Myrtle Avenue Restaurant Week kicks off today with 15 participating restaurants in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. Each restaurant offers a three-course, sit-down meal at price points to meet every budget. Sample cuisines from Cambodia to Mexico, Italy to Nepal, and everywhere in between. Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet presents ‘Remembering’
Friday and Saturday
“Remembering” is an annual program celebrating Black History at BAM. Inspired by The MAAFA Suite – which commemorates the middle passage journey of African people bound for enslavement in the Americas – “Remembering” sets the teachings of Bishop Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood set to music by John Williams, Philip Hamilton, and BeBe Winans. 321 Ashland Place. Tickets $40 to $100.

The Dumbo Projection Project: Voyeurism
Dusk to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday
The Dumbo Projection Project is a neighborhood-wide, outdoor video art exhibition projected onto the Manhattan Bridge — on both the Pearl Street and Adams Street sides — and along the BQE in Susan Smith McKinney Steward Park. The current projection plays off New Yorkers’ love of voyeurism, with chaotic and poetic works presenting the rhythm and patterns of everyday life, exploring themes of anonymity, homemaking, and intersectionality. A Drinking Game NYC: ‘Coming to America’
8 p.m.
Break out your Soul Glo and get your princely robes ready. The Movement Theatre Company and ADGNYC present a live-staged, drunken reenactment of Eddie Murphy’s classic ’80s comedy “Coming to America.” Join the cast at The Bell House as they travel to Zamunda and then back to New York City again, encountering rude taxi drivers, barbers, fast-food robbers and queens-to-be. Shout out your favorite lines along with the tipsy cast. 149 7th Street (Between 2nd and 3rd Ave). Tickets are $25.

Y2K Party and Costume Contest
10 p.m.
Get ready to party like it’s the naughty aughts. Join The Brooklyn Monarch for the ultimate Y2K bash featuring a costume contest and all your favorite throwback hits. Throw on your denim suit with bae and throw back to a time with Justin and Brittney were still close. 23 Meadow Street. Tickets are $12.50.

Saturday, February 17

Bongo’s Bingo
8 p.m.
Bongo’s Bingo isn’t your grandma’s bingo. The Music Hall of Williamsburg is hosting England’s favorite crazy mix of traditional bingo, dance-offs, rave intervals, audience participation and countless magical moments. Bongo’s Bingo is a wild extravaganza and a night of pure nostalgic escapism, with the chance to win prizes from giant pink unicorns to karaoke machines. 66 N 6th Street.

Spin Doctors at Brooklyn Bowl
8 p.m.
Little misses can’t be wrong about this ’90s throwback concert on Saturday night at Brooklyn Bowl. In their own words, the Spin Doctors are the last men standing, still making music like their lives depend on it. Paris Monster opens. 61 Wythe Avenue. Tickets are $25.

Will They Kiss? A Queer Wrestling-Themed Variety Show!
8 p.m.
Get ready for an electrifying night of jaw-dropping action and non-stop entertainment at Haven Boxing that’s queerer than a ‘roided-out Zac Effron in a yellow speedo. Join for a night of drag, burlesque, comedy, and homoerotic wrestling from local performers: Sureni Weerasekera, Zach Teague & Drew Lausch, drag from Paloma and Hazyl, burlesque by Qualms Galore, and hosted by Carly Kane and Maddie Silverstein. 65 Scholes Street. Dyke Drag After Dark at Mary’s Bar

Come to Mary’s Bar (a Queer Irish pub near Brooklyn Steel) for an intimate cabaret style night of sexy, sultry drag and draglesque. On Saturday, I’m Baby performs with Corsette & Charlotte Harlotte. 134 Kingsland Avenue.

Ice Skating at Brooklyn Bridge Park
Open through March 1
The first-ever ice rink beneath the Brooklyn Bridge is open to the public until March. Glide offers scenic views of Manhattan, food and drink selections, and a new spot for ice skating this winter. Black Future Festival: We Da People
10 a.m.
Join The Brooklyn Children’s Museum for a week of reflection and future-forward fun inspired by the national celebration of the African Diaspora and Black History Month. They will present workshops, dance performances, storytelling, and more with their guest curators Kendra J. Bostock and STooPS. 145 Brooklyn Avenue. Free for members, $15 for everyone else.

ConTEAnental at Body by Brooklyn
6 to 11 p.m.
Ricardo Tavares presents his monthly “bathhouse tea dance” at Body by Brooklyn on Sunday night. Join for a night of steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis and dancing featuring Charlene with DJs Patrick Kyle & Daddy Baby. 275 Park Avenue.

Sailor Moon Rave
9 p.m.
Head over to The Brooklyn Monarch and be transported to The Moon Kingdom for a Sailor Moon Rave. You can expect DJs, go-go dancers, burlesque, a drag show and a cash prize costume contest. Put on your blonde pigtails and come party with your fellow Sailor Guardians. 23 Meadow Street.

Lunar Eclipse: Zedd’s Lunar New Year Celebration
9 p.m.
Lunar Eclipse is a two-week electric dance music experience at Brooklyn Hangar, celebrating the Lunar New Year. On Sunday, Grammy-winning “EDM astronaut” Zedd, who has produced tracks on Lady Gaga’s “Artpop” and Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.” Tickets start at $121.03. 2 52nd Street.

Chromeo’s ‘Adult Contemporary’ album release party
10 p.m.
Monday is a holiday so dance late into the night at Chromeo’s album release party at Public Records. Chromeo will spin nothing but disco and funk alongside the legendary DJ Stretch Armstrong and one of Chromeo’s fave DJs in the world, Rimarkable. Spring Festival: Lunar New Year Celebration ft. Slander and Alan Walker
10 p.m. Sunday, 6 p.m. Monday
Pulse Events host their second annual dance music event in celebration of the Lunar New Year, and they’re bringing headliners Ft. Slander and Alan Walker for the party at Avant Gardner.
