One Chicago – One Chicago Crossover

by ARKANSAS DIGITAL NEWS

This crossover was so jam packed full of so many different emotions displayed throughout it was a real rollercoaster. Overall I think this may just come in top for the One Chicago crossovers. I loved how much it felt like the early years of the shows.

First of all I am so glad that we did not lose any of our main cast members but it was so heartbreaking when Macy died. Especially with her being Stella’s first Girls on Fire firefighter. The episode gave us time to learn more about Macy, her mum bringing her the baby blanket was so heartwarming but made it even more painful when she died.

I was gripped from the moment the fire episode started and I definitely wasn’t expecting the plane to land safely and I certainly wasn’t expecting for the entire plane to be dead when 51 got on board. This was a very full on crossover and I think it was handled with incredible care and showcased how scary and heartbreaking a situation like this is.

Obviously having Hailey and Jay back made this crossover even more perfect. I really loved that we got to see a new side to the pair of them but we also got to see little glimpses of who they used to be.

The whole crossover ending with Jay and Hailey going out for a drink was great, last time we saw the pair they were in very bad places in their lives and it was great to see them discuss what happened. This closure was definitely what we needed from them coming back to the One Chicago universe. I also loved that it felt like the Chicago PD team was back together in full force.

There was not one moment in this crossover that I wasn’t worried that we were going to lose one of the main cast members. The scenes with Cruz in the hospital were so emotional, we got to see a really different side to Cruz and it was very special to see how much he cares for his family and how much he doesn’t want to leave them.

I very much liked the storyline between Novak and Frost in this crossover and I believe this is the first time that we have seen Lizzie’s brother. I can definitely see them reigniting their flame after this. That smile from the both of them at the end was really cute.

On the other side of not quite relationships, Violet and Vasquez clearly haven’t resolved their feelings for each other despite saying it won’t happen again. He was the first person she called when they were stopped at the hospital and considering she could have called Stella who would have known a lot more information it says a lot. I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress.

Arguably my favourite parts of this crossover were the flashbacks. We rarely if ever get to see flashbacks in the One Chicago universe and I think that makes it all the more special when we do get them. It gave us a lot of background to both Voight and Pascal and it was very interesting to see what they went through together.

Jay in Voight’s office was so lovely to watch, going from Jay talking to Hailey saying that nothing has changed and they are still protecting Voight to him saying “You’re different’ in his office was such a good progression.

Overall this was an incredibly amazing crossover, I love when we get to see how interconnected all three shows are with each other.

Based on the message Pascal got at the end of this episode, this story is far from over and I truly cannot wait to see what is in store for Pascal and Voight after their deception is released to the public.
